A drawer behaves differently from a door. It closes under its own weight and the weight of what is in it, it seals along a long horizontal edge that sits at the height of a kicked shoe or a trailing towel, and when it is opened the cold air inside falls straight out onto the floor. Most drawer faults follow from those three facts.
Where you find freezer drawers

The drawer work is similar across them; what changes is how the front panel is fixed and how much of the kitchen has to move to reach the machinery.
Why drawers stop closing
A drawer that stops short is nearly always meeting something: ice on the rails, a basket riding up on its retainers, or a package wedged behind the basket. On some models the drawer is helped shut by a slight incline in its roller assemblies, so a drawer that has been knocked out of level loses that help and starts stopping short. Once it stops closing fully, room air keeps arriving, ice keeps forming, and the fault feeds itself — the field note on ice on the rails follows that loop through.
The seal
The drawer gasket takes more abuse than a door gasket: feet, mops and the edges of baskets. A tear or a flattened corner lets a thin thread of damp air in all day, and that shows first as frost along the frame. Replacing it is a routine repair, priced under drawer gasket cost, provided the drawer front is also square to the cabinet — a new seal on a drawer that sags only moves the gap.
Behind the liner
When the drawer closes properly, seals well and the compartment still warms, the fault is further in: the fan that moves air across the coil, or a defrost system that has let the coil ice solid. Those are found on the same visit. On units with more than one drawer, the upper drawer can carry a control cable, which is one reason a drawer is never simply pulled free and forced back.
