Refrigerator/Freezer Drawers: the Freezer Drawer (ID-30C / ID-36C)
Refrigerator/freezer drawers are Designer undercounter units, ID-30C and ID-36C, that pair a refrigerator drawer with a freezer drawer. One freezer drawer of two
The C in ID-30C and ID-36C marks a combination unit: one drawer refrigerates, the other freezes, and the control panel sets each on its own, the freezer arriving at 0°F and the refrigerator at 38°F. The CI versions add an automatic ice maker on the freezer side. Before its container is lifted out, the Designer guide wants the ice maker turned off at the panel, and a three-minute delay gives time to do it.
Faults on the freezer side
A board fault shows from outside as a display that goes dark, restarts on its own or refuses a new setting. The board is only condemned after its sensors and outputs have been metered, and it is priced under control board cost.
Frost on the freezer drawer’s walls comes either from air slipping past the seal or from a defrost part that has stopped clearing the coil. Which of the two it is decides the band, and frost buildup repair costs sets them side by side. On the CI models, a bin that stays empty with every setting correct belongs to the ice and water band.
Slides, ice and the upper drawer
A freezer drawer that comes to rest just short of closed is usually riding on a ridge of ice, not on a broken slide; ice on the drawer rails follows how that starts. The condenser for both drawers sits behind the kickplate, and the Designer guide asks for it to be cleaned every six to twelve months, since a clogged one is on its list of causes for frost.

Can I take a drawer out of an ID-30C to clean it?
The guide lets you: pull the drawer to its stop, raise the front a little and draw it straight out. The upper drawer is different, because a control cable runs to it and has to be disconnected first. If that step looks unfamiliar, leave the drawer in place and call Sub-Zero Repair Kirkland, (425) 699-2400.
Why has the freezer drawer on my ID-30CI stopped making ice?
Work through the guide's own list: the ice indicator showing on the display, the ice maker on for at least a day, the freezer near 0°F, the container seated, the arm down, water reaching the unit and a filter changed within the last year. If all of that holds, the fault is in the fill side.
